Terms of use

Last updated 30 October 2026

1. Who we are

Adenal is provided by Aralel GmbH, Aachen, Germany ("we"). These terms apply to the Adenal apps for Android, iPhone and Apple Watch, the Adenal account and this website. Contact details are in the imprint.

2. The service

Adenal lets you log caffeinated drinks and sleep, estimates the caffeine in your body and shows how caffeine and sleep relate in your own records. The app is free and shows ads. An account is optional; it backs up your data and syncs it between your devices.

3. Not medical advice

Adenal is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Caffeine levels, safe-to-sleep times and insights are estimates from a general model and your own entries; your body may process caffeine differently. Do not rely on Adenal for medical decisions. Ask a doctor about sleep disorders, pregnancy, heart conditions or medication that interacts with caffeine.

4. Your account

5. Your data and content

Your entries remain yours. We process them only to provide the service, as described in the privacy policy. Custom drinks you create are used only in your account.

6. Fair use

Do not attack, overload or reverse engineer the service, access other people's accounts, or use automated tools to query our servers outside the app. We may suspend accounts that do so.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep Adenal available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Your data on your iPhone keeps working without our server. We may change or end features; if we shut down the sync service, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance so you can export your data.

8. Liability

The app and account are free of charge. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of essential obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes the service possible and on which you may rely), limited to the damage typically foreseeable. Otherwise our liability is excluded.

9. Third-party data

Packaged drink data comes from Open Food Facts under the Open Database License (ODbL). We do not guarantee that caffeine values from any source are correct.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service or the law changes. We will tell you about material changes in the app before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.

11. Law and jurisdiction

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer in the EU, the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence still apply. For merchants, the place of jurisdiction is Aachen, Germany.

12. Dispute resolution

We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
